Guide for battery change ML-2

This is a guide for changing the battery in a ML-2 DEIF controller in event of an internal battery failure (self-check: error 48) and the coexisting options lost (config. Lost).

If changing the battery without these alarms, some segments can be skipped (noted on segments)                                                                                         Battery type:            M4T32-BR12SH6 Battery

Make sure to read from Top til end when doing this procedure. Note that doing this procedure breaks the warranty of the controller!

Step 1) only if the battery is still functioning and the config. is not lost.

Have a display connected to the controller and press the jump button. Here you will be prompted with a 4-digit number. Use the arrow keys to change the numbers (note that controller can only move in single digits, hold down the arrows for changing numbers rapidly) until 9230 is written and press enter.

Here you will be prompted with the memory backup parameter. Press enter while marking backup, you will have to enter the master password (standard 2002) to do this. After pressing backup, select save and wait till backup is complete on display. This backup will not save parameters and so on in the controller. You WILL also need a backup file made with the Utility software.

Step 4)

Put both PCB-cards back in the controller again and reattach the casing. You can now mount the controller in the cabinet again. However, the controller has been reset to factory settings therefore it can cause problems if reconnected completely. If possible, only put 24+ on pins 1 and 98, and 24- on pins 2 and 99. Reconnect controller completely after the end of guide.

Step 5) skip if the battery was still functioning and the backup was saved.

Connect to the controller through the USW (DEIF utility software, available from the website) and flash the controller with your firmware, either the version you are using or the newest from our website. If prompted with product selection, choose the correct product matching your type.

Step 6)

Your options will have been deleted and need to be restored. Start by opening the upgrade options tab.
