Multi-core / Single-core
When a standard controller is ordered with a CODESYS license, the license typically covers a single core. This is based on the assumption that most of the processing capacity will be allocated to the application software, which is generally the primary purpose of the controller.
For iE350 and iE250 PLCs, a multicore license is included, enabling CODESYS to utilize all four cores.
If PLC firmware is installed on a standard controller originally delivered with a single-core license, the device may appear as an iE350 UP; however, the license remains limited to a single core. In such cases, a multicore license must be ordered separately if required.
Multicore licenses are available through the appropriate customer care channel.
When searching for multicore licenses in the configurator, it is important to look under the iE350 PLC category rather than under standard controllers.
